Upon returning to the United States, Laurer set about trying to rebuild her reputation and mend the bridges that had previously been burnt to the ground. With her problems seemingly under control, Laurer was to be the subject of a crowdsourced documentary entitled 'The Reconstruction of Chyna'.

At the helm of the project was American director Erik Angra. The son of Indian immigrants, Angra got his first break touring alongside hardcore punk bands in the mid 2000s before gaining his first real rub via the 2012 Amsterdam Film Festival and his editing work on 'The Minister's War'.

The documentary promised to be something of a warts and all look into the life and times of one of modern wrestling's most iconic figures, and the project raised well over the required amount on Kickstarter. It was backed by such names as Mick Foley, and the first trailer for the film was rumoured to be dropping next month (May).

At this early stage the status of the documentary is unknown, but one can only presume that it will be finished sooner rather than later. It is guaranteed to be a fascinating watch, as up until now Chyna's story only seems to have been told through shoot interviews and podcasts with fellow individuals within the pro wrestling world. Fresh eyes may be just what the doctor ordered for this subject.

Born in the middle of Wales in the middle of the 1980's, John can't quite remember when he started watching wrestling but he has a terrible feeling that Dino Bravo was involved. Now living in Prague, John spends most of his time trying to work out how Tomohiro Ishii still stands upright. His favourite wrestler of all time is Dean Malenko, but really it is Repo Man. He is the author of 'An Illustrated History of Slavic Misery', the best book about the Slavic people that you haven't yet read. You can get that and others from www.poshlostbooks.com.
