Bright-eyed and utterly gripped with what he was seeing, a young Doug Williams adored watching characters like 'Million Dollar Man' Ted DiBiase and 'Macho Man' Randy Savage on WWF television. During an interview with Sports Vibe several years ago, Doug told of his admiration for both the UK and American styles.

On the World Of Sport side of things, he enjoyed names like Mark 'Rollerball' Rocco, Fit Finlay and Johnny Saint. The quicker, more technical kind of wrestling bouts appealed to him, but he was able to spot the obvious differences between what was happening in Britain and what he could see on WWF programming.

Having a clearly defined love for more villainous characters shaped how Williams would act later in his career, according to the man himself. By far, his favourite performer in the WWF was DiBiase, closely followed by the aforementioned Savage.

Incredibly, Doug had started to fall away a little from wrestling before moving to Germany. It was personalities like DiBiase and Savage that sucked him right back in. That was likely a crucial point in his life.
