10 Things You Didn't Know About ECW One Night Stand

3. Eddie Guerrero Was Majorly P***ed Off

Eddie Guerrero versus Chris Benoit was the purest dream match that Paul Heyman had always wanted to book in the original ECW but never got the opportunity to. Unfortunately, when it did eventually happen at One Night Stand in 2005, it was a total letdown.

Eddie was seriously p***ed off during the show. There are several reasons for this. First, he didn't feel like he should do a clean job so soon after his memorable heel turn on Rey Mysterio, even if it was on an isolated tribute show that didn't really effect WWE continuity and it was to his best friend, Chris Benoit.

Secondly, fans seemed more preoccupied with chanting obscenities towards JBL, Edge and Eric Bischoff, who were sitting in the balcony. So while Eddie and Benoit were trying to get into a groove, the fans were barely paying attention. Then, early into the match, Guerrero suffered a large cut on his nose. Eddie basically phoned in his performance in protest at having to tap out clean.

Benoit was reported to be very frustrated about this and the two had heated words afterwards. Eddie left the building as soon as his match was over and was absent from the show closing ECW versus WWE brawl.
