4. WWE Tried To Get New Jack For The First Show

WWE had flirted with the idea of hiring New Jack to work an angle with John Cena in late 2004/early 2005. New Jack was going to be the man who had stabbed Cena in a nightclub, which was done to excuse Cena while he went off and filmed The Marine.

The company reconsidered, which was probably for the best: New Jack is one of the most unpredictable and genuinely dangerous wrestlers in history. He frequently went into business for himself and maimed opponents without warning. Placing him in the ring with the future golden goose would have been an accident waiting to happen. But WWE did want New Jack for the original One Night Stand PPV.

You can picture New Jack performing a balcony dive during the chaotic main event or coming in and doing his whole 'blasting people with weapon shots while his music continues to play' bit. But, alas, it wasn't meant to be. New Jack could not perform on the show due to what was called a 'legal issue' in the state of New York.

The garbage brawler worked painstakingly to resolve the issue so that he could perform on the show but didn't get it done in time and was thus left off the card.
