2. Survivor Series Wasn't His First Wrestling Appearance Since WrestleMania XX
The final match of Goldberg's first WWE tenure came when he defeated Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania XX. It would be 12 years before he wrestled again - he scored another victory over Lesnar at Survivor Series 2016.
In the time Goldberg was out of action, though, he wasn't completely inactive - he actually made a couple of in-ring appearances where he brought his old arsenal out of mothballs.
On 7 June 2015, independent promotion/convention Legends of Wrestling held a show at Queens, NY's Citi Field, boasting a line-up of some of the top stars not affiliated with WWE at the time. The main event of the show saw Rob Van Dam take on Scott Steiner, but after the bout, Luke Gallows ran in to help Steiner attack RVD. Goldberg made the save, hitting Steiner with a Spear and Gallows with the Jackhammer.
On 23 January 2016, Legends of Wrestling had a show in Miami that saw Steiner defeat Chavo Guerrero. After that match, Goldberg hit Steiner with another Spear, possibly teasing that he was ready to return for an actual match.
