10 Things You Didn't Know About Grado

3. Mick Foley Gave Him His Trademark Flannel

Things would only get better for Grado after he had toppled Drew Galloway. Mick Foley, who had helped stop the heel menace of The Black Label from ruining his dreams, handed Grado his own personalised flannel shirt. Of course, the lumberjack-like flannel is something that's been associated with Foley for many years.

Some have even poked fun at the fact Mick wears his favourite pattern regularly. Never one to dress like a World Champion, Foley has always been able to use the flannel as an endearing quality, further connecting him with wrestling fans. Symbolically, he was passing that torch to Grado at Fear & Loathing VIII.

Changing up his act a little, Grado then emerged for his ICW World Heavyweight Title match against Chris Renfrew at the Fifth Annual Square Go with a new look. Gone was the familiar (goofy) singlet, and in its place was the same flannel shirt Foley had given him just months earlier.

For someone who was once overlooked in Scottish wrestling, it must have been huge to receive the blessing of a childhood hero.
