7. She Came From Humble Beginnings
After college, Rose was making ends meet by working in her father’s deli, tending bars, and waitressing. At this time, she was also back living with her parents in Yorktown Heights, New York.
She was already working out recreationally, and after finishing a shift one day, one of her colleagues suggested she try entering bikini bodybuilder competitions. Mandy Rose, not knowing exactly what it entailed, was originally put off the idea as it would require her to walk on stage while wearing ‘stripper’ heels.
Taking the opportunity, Rose began using a trainer to prepare for an upcoming event in Boston, and impressed judges not only her with her physique, but also because of her natural presence on stage. It was her first ever competition, and she scored first place.
