10 Things You Didn't Know About Nikolai Volkoff

2. Volkoff Didn't Actually Leave The WWF Until 1997

Volkoff's full-time on screen WWF career ended in the summer of 1995. Beforehand, he'd been working as a quasi-babyface and as part of Ted DiBiase's Million Dollar Corporation, and he'd later be spotted roaming the streets by Michael Cole on an early episode of Shotgun Saturday Night. After that brief cameo, he was gone, right?

Not quite.

Nikolai told The Hannibal TV in 2016 that he kept working for the company for a few months after that Shotgun showing. In fact, he was a regular on smaller house shows the WWF put on in tiny buildings and high-school gyms. As part of the 'C' town crowd, Volkoff was still earning a pay check from the McMahon family right up until that spring.

Most fans likely believed he was gone after the Million Dollar Corporation gimmick faded. It turns out that's not the case however. Volkoff was booked as a veteran heel on live events and was there to work as glorified enhancement talent in the twilight years of his run.
