The final piece of interest from that Right Wing News interview with Volkoff was that he actually ran for office in 2006 and wanted to represent Baltimore & Harford County in Maryland as a Republican candidate.

Specifically, Nikolai planned to target the fact that taxes were going up and living standards were going down. To Volkoff, that must have reeked, because he could remember only too well how hard work had counted for nothing in his native Croatia; though he didn't go into detail on that point, it must have had some bearing on his decision to run.

In his own words, Volkoff said, "It’s a crime to raise taxes, if you can’t help raise the standard of living for the people. That’s what I stand for." Nikolai, despite his best efforts, came up short in his bid to become Republican Primary for State Delegate in Maryland's District 7.

(Also, no, there's no real reason for using that picture of Nikolai with Goldust. It's just one that probably won't ever pop up again, and it's worth showing).
