On one episode of Bruce Prichard's Something To Wrestle With podcast, the ex-WWE creative team member stopped to offer up a little side-step on Nikolai Volkoff's behaviour on the road. The story shows just how prudent an individual the big man was away from home, and how mindful he was of spending money.

Every morning, regardless of where the WWF were on tour, Nikolai would seek out a small greengrocers and ask them for all the bashed fruit and vegetables they planned to throw out that afternoon. He wasn't looking for rotten food, but actually for those foodstuffs deemed too bashed or ugly to go out on display.

Then, Volkoff would take his haul back to his hotel room and prepare himself a feast on the house.

Prichard claims that Nikolai would carry a little stove and cookery set around with him from town-to-town. Not only would this eating habit save him cash on the road, it'd also stop good food from going to waste. Nikolai Volkoff: friend of nature.
