2. Called Bischoff Live From 'Montreal Screwjob' Incident
According to Eric Bischoff, Rick Rude spoke with him on the phone live from the Molson Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on November 9th, 1997. That date was of course the same evening the 1997 Survivor Series took place. Telephoning Bischoff, Rude informed the WCW head honcho that what he was about to hear had happened was 100% authentic. Bret Hart had been legitimately screwed by Vince McMahon, Shawn Michaels and others, and Rude wanted Bischoff to be aware of this. It's unclear whether or not both men had previous conversations prior to that evening, but it seems likely. The fact that Rick showed up on WCW programming shortly thereafter lends that idea credence. Hart was on his way to WCW full-time, so perhaps Rude was advising Bischoff to try and speak with him. The scenes backstage at Survivor Series must have been wild, but it's incredible to think that Rick Rude took some time out to call Eric Bischoff. The WCW boss doesn't go into further detail during the revelation, but he does say that Rude called him, not the other way around.
