10. Threatened Warrior Backstage To Stop Stiffing Him
It's fair to say that Rick Rude didn't enjoy working with The Ultimate Warrior. The latter had just been chosen to supplant Hulk Hogan as the top dog in the WWF when the pair were programmed opposite one another. After vanquishing Hogan at WrestleMania VI, Warrior's next rivalry was with Rude, and the pair would clash at SummerSlam 1990 inside a Steel Cage. Beforehand, both men had tangled over the Intercontinental Title in the promotion. During that particular feud in 1989, Rude had words with Warrior backstage over the way his musclebound rival was treating him inside the ring. Furious over what he perceived as unnecessary stiff shots during matches, Rude confronted his co-worker. When Warrior was less-than-apologetic about what had happened, Rick Rude reacted angrily and threatened him. It's not difficult to imagine this happening, because Rude was a fiery character. That becomes clear when listening to those who knew him well talk about the man during various shoot interviews. Rick Rude clearly didn't like the way Warrior took liberties during bouts, and decided to take matters into his own hands.
