Despite the fact that Reigns's own family contained no shortage of wrestling role models, it wasn't any of them that he held in highest regard (at least not as an on-screen personality). Like many wrestling fans who are now in their early 30s, Reigns's hero as a child was WWE's ultimate role model, Bret "The Hitman" Hart.

In an interview with Yahoo Sports prior to WrestleMania 31, Reigns talked about how much he looked up to Hart as a child. “Every time he’d come out with that leather jacket and give his sunglasses away to a kid in the crowd, I used to dream about being that kid,” he said. Reigns explained how much he liked Bret Hart's outfit and image, and with Reigns's long black hair and full-body gear, it's not hard to see the influence.

Reigns continues to look up to Hart, describing him as "a very cool dude." Hart, for his part, has been supportive of "The Guy," describing him as a talented worker who has suffered from bad booking. He's also said that he believes Reigns will eventually get himself over with the crowd.
