Ryback has one of those ring names that just fits; it sounds powerful, strong and dynamic, just like the man himself (and it certainly sounds a lot less silly than his NXT persona, Skip Sheffield). However, it wasn't created in a WWE creative meeting or sudden moment of inspiration; Ryback came up with it himself in OVW, incorporating a childhood nickname. As a kid, friends would nickname the Intercontinental Champion 'Silverback', due to his muscular frame resembling that of a gorilla. He combined that with part of his real name - Ryan Reeves - to create the intimidating moniker we all know today.
