As well as those impressive individual accolades, Benjamin can lay claim to a tag team record that only one other wrestler in the world can match—and that man was his tag team partner.

By my calculations, alongside Charlie Haas, Shelton Benjamin is the part of the only tag team in pro wrestling history to have won both the WWE and ROH Tag Team Championships.

While the likes of CM Punk, Evan Bourne, Seth Rollins and Cesaro have all won both WWE and ROH tag gold, each of them have done so with different partners. For example, Rollins won the ROH titles alongside Jimmy Jacobs, but his WWE tag team triumph came with Roman Reigns as his partner.

Benjamin and Haas, on the other hand, managed to stick together through both companies and, most importantly, conquer both divisions.

There are a few names who could one day match that record, though. If Austin Aries were to receive a call-up and Roderick Strong somehow made his way to the WWE, they could match Benjamin and Haas’ achievement—as could Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn if they ever put their differences aside.

But for the time being, Benjamin and Haas’ tag team prowess puts them very much in a league of their own. I guess there was a reason they called themselves the World’s Greatest Tag Team after all…
