10 Things You Didn't Know About Tazz

3. Was Originally Scheduled To Dominate The Royal Rumble

Making his debut to a thunderous reception in Madison Square Garden at the 2000 Royal Rumble, Tazz completely dominated Kurt Angle, ending the Olympic Gold Medal winner's unbeaten streak, and coming across as a valuable new member of the WWF roster. Such success would prove short-lived for the incoming former ECW star, who didn't quite look as intimidating among the giants of the federation as he had as the head of Paul Heyman's promotion. Regardless, facing Kurt Angle wasn't even the original plan for the newcomer. Instead, Tazz was penned to make a name for himself as part of the Royal Rumble. During the match, Rikishi was given some time to shine, but maybe that spot would have gone to Tazz instead had plans not changed? It's highly unlikely that the man would have been picked to win the bout, given that names such as The Rock were involved, but a strong showing in the Rumble would have been a fine way to kick start his career. Better yet, had someone eliminated him from the match, it could have kick started a feud, giving Tazz something to work towards.
