A little-known fact about Taz is that the man is a huge fan of Mixed Martial Arts. On the surface, this may not seem like a big deal, but legendary Hall Of Fame announcer Jim Ross has previously noted during fan Q&A sessions that he and Taz used to almost exclusively talk about MMA and UFC during their time together on the road. Spilling the beans even further, Ross stated that Taz was interested in branching out, becoming an announcer for MMA long before he would wind up working for TNA. It seems that Taz was feeling pretty burned out after years on the road with WWE, and felt like a change of scenery would do him good. Of course, Taz was last seen working alongside another former WWE employee, Josh Mathews, on Impact Wrestling, but it was clear he was on auto pilot a lot of the time. Has the spark gone for Taz with professional wrestling? Maybe now is the ideal time for the man to scratch an itch that's obviously been there for a while, and try his hand at becoming an announcer for MMA?
