10 Things You Didn't Know About The Bushwhackers

9. They Unintentionally Beat Up Four Of Stu Hart's Children

Thanks to a good relationship with Stu Hart, the Bushwhackers (wrestling then as The Kiwis) were very successful in Canada in the 1970s. But it could have been very different for them due to an unexpected brawl in their first appearance. Debuting in Stampede Wrestling, they found themselves in a situation that could have black-balled them from the territory. After being disqualified for using their flag pole as a foreign object against the tag team champions, Abdullah The Butcher threw four kids into the ring and instructs Luke and Butch to beat them up. After leaving the two wrestlers and four children helpless in the ring they went backstage to be greeted by an irate Stu Hart. He explained to them that they were stomping on his own flesh and blood. No long-term ill will was had by Stu but the beatdown of the four oldest of his male children earned the duo instant heel heat with the crowd. Owen and Bret were among the four Hart children that were not involved in the incident.
