8. They Demanded A Dollar Over Their WWF Deal To Stay With ECW
The Dudley Boyz did eventually join the WWF in late 1999, albeit fairly reluctantly. They offered to stay with Paul Heyman's promotion for just a one dollar raise from the deal offered by Vince McMahon, a deal which was refused. Heyman had already agreed a deal to supply the WWF with talent, and would have been in violation of the agreement if he hadn't allowed the Dudleys to leave. The pair debuted in the WWF under a similarly comedic gimmick to Bubba's original character in ECW. He would revert back to struggling with words, recovering from his stutter only thanks to a stiff slap on the back from D-Von. Thankfully the WWF eventually saw sense, ditching the goofiness and transforming the Dudleys back into the ass-kicking, table-smashing heels ECW fans knew and loved. They managed to resonate with a more mainstream audience, especially in the midst of the chaotic Attitude Era, and were quickly turned into babyfaces as a result.
