10 Things You Didn’t Know About The WWE Draft

8. Most Diverse Draft

RIC FLAIR DRAFT PICK

However, despite the fact that the 2016 Draft featured more picks than any other year, it wasn’t necessarily the most diverse field we’ve seen.

In total, eight different nationalities were drafted; American, Canadian, Mexican, English, Irish, Swiss, Bulgarian, and Ghanaian. But that impressive crop doesn’t quite match that of the 2011 Draft.

That year, we saw the 36 selections cover an eventual total of nine nationalities; American, Canadian, Mexican, English, Scottish, Irish, Indian, Japanese, and Ghanaian. Basically, Yoshi Tatsu and the Great Khali were the difference makers on this occasion (a sentence you won’t read too often I'm sure).

Now, you could argue that Kane’s drafting on this year’s show would take the tally to nine, not because he comes from Hell, but because he was actually born in Madrid, Spain where his family were stationed in the Air Force. Even I’m not pedantic enough to allow that one to count, though.

And in case you were wondering, the least diverse Draft was the 2006 edition which featured an exclusively American cast. That being said, just five selections were made that year, so it’s not really a fair comparison…
