10 Things You Didn’t Know About Ultimo Dragon

8. Botched Elbow Surgery Was Thought To Have Ended His Career

Wrestlers know that there's a chance that one botched move could possibly end their careers. Darren Drozdov was famously left paralysed from the waist down after he and D-Lo Brown messed up a sit-out powerbomb, a move they had both done many times before. The risk is always there, no matter how experienced the guys in the ring are. What wrestlers don't expect, however, is for a doctor's botch to end their career. Ultimo's career was thought to be over in 1998, when a routine surgery to remove bone chips from his elbow was botched, shredding nerves in his arm and causing him to lose the majority of the feeling in the limb. The nerve damage and loss of feeling forced Dragon to announce his retirement from wrestling, as he instead focused his energy on training students at his Toyrumon school. After another surgery to repair damage in 2001 was successful, we was able to make a comeback to the ring in 2002.
