Wrestling is remembered by the eras. The Attitude Era of the late 90's is typically remembered fondly while the New Generation Era of the earlier part of that decade was a little more tepid.

Wendi Richter was not only a big part of the Rock 'n' Wrestling Era of the 80's, she took part in the match that officially kicked it off.

Pop star Cyndi Lauper featured Captain Lou Albano in her "Girls Just Want To Have Fun" music video but would later have friction in the wrestling world. As their anger heated up they had two people step in the ring and settle the score for them in a 1984 MTV event titled "The Brawl To End It All."

Albano selected WWF Women's Champion The Fabulous Moolah and Lauper picked Wendi Richter. Richter defeated the champion (of 28 years!) in a match that was broadcast on MTV to astonishingly high ratings.

The event drew a 9.0 Nielson rating. That's higher than even Raw's most watched segment ever, the famous "This Is Your Life" skit between Mankind and The Rock. It drew an 8.4 rating.
