10 Things You Didn't Know About Wendi Richter
2. Roddy Piper Inducted Her Into The Hall Of Fame Simply For Being Alive
After Richter's unceremonious exit from the WWF and the years that passed by, it was unexpected that she'd ever agree to do anything for Vince McMahon again. She eventually returned when she accepted an induction into the WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2010.
The company was vastly different from what she'd remembered and it would be a little tough to find a proper suitor to officially induct her. She was not very well known to the modern audience and many of her peers were no longer around.
Roddy Piper was the one was ultimately asked to do the honors. It was surprising to even him. Simply being an active wrestler during the early 80's was his biggest qualifier. "I said to Vince McMahon, 'What am I inducting Richter for?' and he said, 'You're the only one alive.'"
Piper accepted and heralded her in the regard that she deserved, even referring to her as the Sandra Bullock of wrestling. Despite the formerly hard feelings held by Richter, she chose the high road and was very gracious of the honor.
