10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 1990

8. The Real Reason Why Demolition Ax Was Phased Out

Wrestling fans will remember in 1990 that there were three members of Demolition. Demolition Crush was added mid-year, and the trio would defend the tag team titles using the Freebird Rule, meaning that any two members of Demolition could defend the belts, and their opponents would never know which two. For the most part, though, it was Smash and Crush teaming up, as Ax (real name Bill Eadie) was being phased out of full-time in-ring competition. The rumor going through the rounds was that Eadie was having heart problems, but the real reason Eadie was winding down his in-ring career was because of a severe allergic reaction to shellfish that he ate while on a tour of Japan after Wrestlemania 6. Eadie also co-starred along with Hulk Hogan in the No Holds Barred movie, playing the character of Jake Bullet.
