10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 1990

2. Why Jesse Ventura Left The WWF

Like Rick Rude, Jesse Ventura was a well known heel who left the WWF in 1990 as well. And like Rick Rude, this had to deal with a disagreement with Vince McMahon over money. In Ventura's case, this disagreement had to do with a Sega product that Ventura wanted to promote, but since the product had nothing to do with the WWF, and the WWF had an exclusive agreement with Nintendo at the time, McMahon forbade it. So Jesse left. Ventura ended up suing McMahon a year later, because he was incorrectly told that commentators did not receive royalties on WWF Home Videos. As a part of the lawsuit, for a long time Ventura's voice was edited out of WWF archive footage.
