10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 1992

9. Bret Hart Almost Jumped To WCW

Someone else almost beat Jake to the WCW punch.

Bret Hart's WWF deal expired in January, and he started negotiating with the competition immediately. WCW reportedly wanted Hart to leap over with the Intercontinental Title (presumably as payback for Ric Flair bolting with their World Title the prior year). There's probably no chance that was happening though.

Regardless of any bid to stick it to the McMahon family from Atlanta's finest, Bret did have several conversations about inking a long-term deal with WCW. Imagine that. Things could've been so, so different. Hart obviously wouldn't have won the WWF Title later in the year, and his entire era wouldn't have existed at all.

That means no iconic matches vs. Owen Hart, Steve Austin, The Undertaker, Diesel, Shawn Michaels or Hakushi. What? You don't think Bret's bout vs. the Japanese star from In Your House 1 was a classic? It was one of the best matches from 1995!
