10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 1992

10. Jerry Lawler And Jeff Jarrett Were At A House Show In Memphis

Jeff Jarrett Jerry Lawler 1992 Both Jerry Lawler and Jeff Jarrett have had successful WWF careers, the former moreso than the latter. However, neither were employed with the company at the time, which made their appearance at a house show in Memphis very newsworthy. In 1992, both were working for Lawler€™s United States Wrestling Association (USWA), which would eventually have a business partnership with the WWF, but did not at the time. The show took place at the Pyramid on August 9, 1992. Both Lawler and Jarrett were sitting ringside. Lawler had said on USWA television that he was upset that the WWF was putting on a show in his backyard. Jeff Jarrett issued an open challenge to any WWF wrestler. After Bret Hart beat Kamala in an Intercontinental Title match, he accepted Jarrett€™s open challenge and said that if he was successful in defending the title at Summerslam, he€™d put the belt on the line against Jarrett the next time the WWF was in Memphis. That show never happened, as the next show in Memphis, scheduled for October 31, was cancelled due to a poor ticket advance.
