10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 1992

9. Billy Jack Haynes Showed Up And Was Sent Home€Twice

For some of you, the name Billy Jack Haynes may faintly ring a bell. For others, you might have no idea who he is. Billy Jack Haynes was a marginal talent who had a 3-year stint with the WWF, with his most memorable moment being wrestling to a draw with Hercules in a €œBattle of the Full Nelsons€ at Wrestlemania III. He quit the WWF in 1988 amid some controversy. He didn€™t want to lose a match in his hometown of Portland, Oregon, so WWF fired him, although Haynes had claimed he quit the company. He briefly made some news over a weekend January 1992 when he showed up to Superstars and Wrestling Challenge tapings in Lubbock and Amarillo, TX, after being told by Pat Patterson that he could get a tryout match. Once he got there, he was told he wasn€™t needed for the show and sent home. This wouldn€™t be newsworthy other than the fact that later in the year, when Vince McMahon was indicted for steroid distribution, he openly spoke out against the WWF and Vince himself. Last year, he filed a lawsuit against WWE for their denial of brain injuries suffered by their talent. Maybe they should have put him on the show after all.
