4. Blue Meanie Threatens To Sue WWE Following One Night Stand Incident
One of the only negatives coming out of the ECW One Night Stand PPV was a drunken JBL legitimately beating up The Blue Meanie during the show-closing ECW versus WWE brawl. Bradshaw and Meanie had heat stemming from comments that Meanie made in interviews in which he called the Texan a bully. JBL didn't really do much to disprove those accusations by stalking and then sucker punching Meanie. With footage of the attack caught on tape, Meanie considered legal action against JBL and WWE. He would have had every right to do so, given the nature of the assault. But then he dropped the suit, signed a short-term deal with WWE and scored a cheap,Stevie Richards and Batista-assisted win over JBL on the July 7th episode of Smackdown. As a result of the short-term contract, he could no longer pursue legal action. Meanie made another appearance, at the Great American Bash PPV, in a lame match against the Mexicools. After that, he was gone. WWE clearly just wanted to get a Meanie/JBL match on tape to use in court, should Meanie consider suing them. Meanie proved to be a bit of a mark by taking a win over Bradshaw in a worked match instead of trying to hurt him in the courts.
