1. Rey Mysterio Refused To Drop IC Title To Dolph Ziggler
When you think of guys who refused to do jobs to other wrestlers, you immediately think of the likes of Shawn Michaels, Hulk Hogan and Steve Austin. Rey Mysterio is not a guy whose name you hear and you think 'locker room politician' but in 2009 he did play the old 'creative control' card. The masked man was asked to drop his newly-won Intercontinental Championship to Dolph Ziggler at Night of Champions. Rey had only won the belt from Chris Jericho the previous month and had been promised a lengthy reign. Annoyed at WWE for asking him to drop it so soon, Rey said 'no'. WWE, not knowing when to quit, asked Rey if he would stare at the ceiling for Dolph a month later at SummerSlam. Once again, Rey felt that it was far too soon and refused. Mysterio would, however, have to drop the belt to John Morrison a month later following a wellness policy violation (which Rey contested). Credit has to go to Rey for sticking to his guns and calling WWE's bluff. Rey was the WWE's top wrestler of 2009 and deserved a substantial reign.
