9. Matt Hardy And Val Venis Engage In Personal Twitter War
Val Venis sounded off on his former co-worker in January 2011, sending out a bunch of tweets that derided Matt Hardy's ability as a performer and as a draw. Taking to social media to vent, Venis said that 'It's funny to watch Matt Hardy put himself over like he is bigger than he actually is. He could not draw a dime if he paid fans to watch him'. Ouch. He then claimed that 'Matt Hardy could not fight his way out of a wet paper bag. Eve choked him out and made him snore'. This was in reference to Eve Torres, who trained with MMA greats the Gracies, and once choked out a belligerent Matt at a bar in the summer of 2008. Venis had more insults for Matt, whom he could simply not let up on, including:
Matt Hardy as ECW Champ is what killed ECW. The guy really believes he is another Rock or Austin. Matt is a self glorified back-yarder! Matt Hardy wakes up every morning, looks himself in the mirror, and wishes he was as entertaining as me, The Big Valbowski. I feel sorry 4 Matt. ZERO talent in the ring or on the mic, yet believes he is as influential as The Rock and/or Austin.
Matt Hardy responded (naturally), taking shots at Val on Twitter, and also releasing a YouTube video in which he claims that Venis was trying to work an angle with him, without his knowledge.
