10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 2011

5. Trevor Murdoch Offered Contract (Then Taken Away From Him)

Remember Trevor Murdoch? He wrestled for WWE between 2005-2008, most notably as a member of a semi-successful tag team with the late Lance Cade. Following their breakup, Murdoch was given a ludicrous country singing gimmick, drafted to Smackdown and then fired before he could debut. From there, he worked for independent companies and in Japan, for Pro-Wrestling NOAH. WWE had clearly been monitoring his activity and, impressed with his performances, they gave him the opportunity to try out for the company. The student of Harley Race worked two dark matches against Evan Bourne and Jey Uso in early May. Happy with his work, WWE offered Murdoch a contract, which he announced on June 17th. Twelve days later, however, he revealed that WWE had rescinded their offer, posting on Facebook:
Well I got a call from Johnny Ace saying they weren't going to go threw with my contract. He told me "budget cut's". I say bullsh**. I think I'm done with pro wrestling. Anybody know of any job opening's?
Murdoch didn't retire, but he did get a full-time job installing fibre optic cable for a heavy goods company, choosing to only wrestle on a part-time basis.
