10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 2011

4. Gail Kim Eliminates Herself From Battle Royal And Quits Company In Protest Of Poor Treatment

When Gail Kim was released from her WWE contract in November 2004, it caught her and a lot of fans off guard. She was a 'diva' with enormous potential and many felt as though WWE hadn't even scratched the surface with her. But, with WWE offering Diva Search winner Christy Hemme $250,000 per year, they needed to cut costs and Kim was let go. She didn't sit around feeling sorry for herself, instead going to TNA and making a real name for herself as one of the world's best female talents. Hey matches against Awesome Kong were oftentimes the highlight of TNA shows. Realising they had missed the boat the first time around, WWE re-signed her in late 2008. And then did absolutely nothing with her. She just made up the numbers, wrestling nondescript tag matches and battle royals. It has to have been a blow to her. By the time August 2011 rolled around, she was fed up with her shoddy treatment and, having decided months in advance she was going to quit the company, eliminated herself from a battle royal on the August 1st Raw. Just seconds into the match, Kim slid under the bottom rope and walked to the back. Apparently, WWE had instructed Kim to get out within the first minute, so she just decided to do it herself. After that she confronted WWE management about the divas' role on television and then went and sat at home until her WWE contract expired in late September. Speaking about the incident, Kim stated she had 'no regrets' and vowed never to sign with the company again. Given that this year she's made some serious allegations about WWE management, it's doubtful that she'd be welcomed back, anyway.
