9. Brock Lesnar Was Furious About Extreme Rules 2012

Time has been kind to the slightly befuddling conclusion of Extreme Rules 2012, not least because Brock Lesnar was anything but that to John Cena during their pulsating main event.

'The Beast' beat the ever-loving f*ck out of 'The Champ' in a wholly unique presentation for WWE main events at the time, completely reestablishing himself as a refined monster in his post-UFC guise. And then of course, he lost.

Lesnar fumed after the show, but it wasn't just the illogical result choice that had him already back at odds with WWE management. It was a strange post-match promo by Cena that no-sold much of the violence that had just occurred.

Brock apparently tore up a dressing room during a heated exchange with noted higher-up Mark Carano, feeling betrayed by the company for inadvertently undermining the aura he'd attempted to build back up. He wasn't wrong - in combination with his tepid programme with Triple H, it took the ending of The Undertaker's streak and a total destruction job on 'Big Match John' two years later to get back to square one.
