In a since-broken record, WWE played host to a whopping 17 pay-per-views in 2016, beating a record set nearly a decade earlier the last time the company were still adhering to their own Brand Extension's rules.

Including NXT and the fondly-remembered Cruiserweight Classic Live Final, the company hit 21 supercards, equalling their tally from a 2015 that had included two Brock Lesnar Network exclusives along with the offerings from the black-and-gold brand.

The return of the split rosters resulted in the first brand-exclusive shows since 2007, with September's Backlash, October's No Mercy and December's Tables, Ladders & Chairs all being held for SmackDown wrestlers only. Raw took Clash Of Champions, Hell In A Cell and Roadblock: End Of The Line for those same respective months.

The latter begat another odd trivia note - there were two Roadblocks. Leaning into the "Road To WrestleMania" theme from February's event so much that they used it again in December, the "End Of The Line" subtitle was added as a differentiator between the two iterations of the B-Show. Oddly enough, (and as of this writing), it's never been used again.
