10 Things You Didn't Know About WWE In 2019

4. Roman Reigns Only Had ONE Title Match

Ahead of his 2020 return and reinvention as 'The Tribal Chief', the prospect of a Roman Reigns push of any kind instilled such an anxiety in the wider fanbase that he was still booed by some during his WrestleMania return against Drew McIntyre, despite the fact that he'd won a far more important battle with leukaemia the prior winter.

The heel turn felt inevitable, but WWE seemingly did everything they could to stave off complaints about his booking in 2019, especially when it came to winning titles.

For the first (and only) time since 2014, 'The Big Dog' spent an entire calendar year without a belt, and in fact only even had one chance to win one. That was an Intercontinental Title clash with Shinsuke Nakamura that ended in disqualification (because of course it did), but Reigns probably had one eye back on a bigger prize he was set to claim at WrestleMania 36 before the pandemic took hold.
