Though it felt as if Drew McIntyre's 2020 megapush came out of just about nowhere, there were perhaps signs in 2019 that the company still had big plans for the 'Scottish Psychopath'.

McIntyre was Mr Consistency ahead of his metoric rise, working with the likes of Roman Reigns, The Undertaker and Shane McMahon as well as regularly playing dark match fodder for Bray Wyatt as he attempted to get his Fiend character off the ground. A cool quirk in his Monday Night Raw record told the same story.

The former NXT champion was the only performer to wrestle on the first and last Monday Night Raw of the year, suggesting a staying power that ultimately propelled him to glory at the 'Show Of Shows' the following year. Trusted with heading up the red brand after its demotion from company flagship in late-2019, Drew not being drafted to SmackDown was a trusting pat on the back rather than the proverbial custard pie to the face.
