Nobody will ever top this Hulk Hogan stat.

Well, they might, but it's a real long shot. Hulk holds the record for longest gap between appearances at SummerSlam. He headlined the show in 1991 (don't bother watching that match if you've never seen it - it was terrible!), then didn't make another showing on the summer spectacular until 2005.

That 14 year gap is unmatched. It's even cooler that Hogan main-evented his first SummerSlam back in 2005, but slightly surprising he didn't appear on the pay-per-view series in 2002 or 2003 during a 'Hulkamania' reprise run. Contractual disagreements with Vince McMahon put paid to that, sadly.

The '05 match with Shawn Michaels became iconic for HBK taking the p*ss out of Hulk by over-selling everything. That was certainly a contrast to what happened back in '91. There, everybody involved (including Hogan) decided to no-sell every kick, punch and move until the finish. Or, at least, that's what it looked like.
