10 Things You Didn't Know Were Banned In Triple H's WWE
4. Unscripted Promos
The WWE product is slightly looser now, and all the better for it.
Roman Reigns has input over his creative. Edge, who came up in a system in which talents were permitted and encouraged to get over the old-fashioned and correct way, speaks directly into the camera held by an operator in the ring to allow fans to better connect with his story. The interaction between the Bloodline is definitely, magically off the cuff. Sami Zayn is clearly allowed to play around with his delightfully obsequious yet endearing character; watching the reactions of his fellow stablemates is such a refreshing, organic joy.
Still, this is much the same way as WWE operated when Vince was still at the helm. A select few - after years and years - had built up sufficient trust to get more over when they weren't by default assumed to be a complete liability.
Elsewhere, the scripted promo model remains firmly in place to the detriment of the product. The old, off-putting disconnect is still there. What are Damage CTRL even talking about? Their promos are meandering variations of the same copy and Bayley doesn't appear to believe in whatever the material is.
They talk of assuming control of the division but the audience, gauging by the incessant "What?" chants, aren't able to be manipulated.
