Clamouring for wrestling's 'good old days' is futile. There'll never be another Attitude, Ruthless Aggression, or Golden Era. Regardless of those periods and their respective positive qualities, each was created in a vastly different environment, and their successes and failures can't be replicated.

Could WWE stand to benefit from adopting a few of their plus points? Perhaps, but there'll never be a full on return. Just like the eras of the past, today's WWE is a good fit for today's entertainment world. The company will continue to grow and evolve with the environment around it, and reverting to an older blueprint would only anchor them in the past.

Few things hurt modern wrestling like constant comparisons to bygone eras. They're inevitable, because most fans will always prefer the wrestling they grew up on to what they're being presented with now, but it's impossible to accept the current product on its own merit with that mindset.

Expecting the company to live up to standards set 15-20 years ago makes disappointment inevitable. Today's product is far from perfect, but neither were Attitude and Ruthless Aggression, and pining for their return is a surefire way to blind yourself to WWE's many modern positives.
