10 Things You Learn Binge Watching Every WWE Attitude Era Raw
6. Raw Rarely Offered Great Matches
The 'Attitude' era was known for big moments. 1998 alone had so many timeless segments involving Steve Austin, Vince McMahon, Kane, The Undertaker, Mankind, D-Generation X and others. Most of those took place outside of actual matches however.
Raw didn't have a banner in-ring year in '98; same goes for '99.
It's almost shocking that your writer watched approx 100 episodes of telly from those years and can barely remember more than a handful of decent matches. 99% of them were short affairs that only existed to get to the next promo skit, and 99.9% of those also had loads of outside interference, ref bumps or other shenanigans.
Some might cry into their 'Austin 3:16' t-shirts upon reading the next line, but here goes: 2023 has better wrestling action generally. You're much more likely to see a top-notch wrestling showcase on Raw these days than you were back then.
