6. Raw Rarely Offered Great Matches

The 'Attitude' era was known for big moments. 1998 alone had so many timeless segments involving Steve Austin, Vince McMahon, Kane, The Undertaker, Mankind, D-Generation X and others. Most of those took place outside of actual matches however.

Raw didn't have a banner in-ring year in '98; same goes for '99.

It's almost shocking that your writer watched approx 100 episodes of telly from those years and can barely remember more than a handful of decent matches. 99% of them were short affairs that only existed to get to the next promo skit, and 99.9% of those also had loads of outside interference, ref bumps or other shenanigans.

Some might cry into their 'Austin 3:16' t-shirts upon reading the next line, but here goes: 2023 has better wrestling action generally. You're much more likely to see a top-notch wrestling showcase on Raw these days than you were back then.
