7. The ‘Two-Man Power Trip’ Made No Sense

Vince McMahon 2001 Losing It
WWE

Right, what was this all about?

Triple H angrily vented to Vince McMahon about aligning with Steve Austin on the post-WrestleMania X-Seven edition of Raw. Biting back, Vince told him Austin had won his 'Mania match, whereas Trips didn't. P*ssed off, 'The Game' stormed out of the building, but returned later to help 'Stone Cold' vs. The Rock.

Huh? This didn't make a lick of sense, especially when one realises that Triple H had tried to murder Austin in late-1999. The following year, Steve then attempted to end Hunter's life by dropping him from a crane at Survivor Series 2000. Then, suddenly, fans were expected to get behind this 'Two-Man Power Trip' idea?

That nasty quad injury Hunter suffered in May ended the experiment prematurely, but it was pretty doomed to begin with. These guys had hated one another for years on TV, then randomly started buddying up just because Austin had turned heel.

Swing and a miss looking back.
