Razor Ramon was the vicious heel who had beaten up poor Owen Hart to send a vile message the way of WWF Champ Bret Hart before the 1993 Royal Rumble, right? Not according to the raucous live crowd in New York for Raw's first episode. Those folks treated Razor like the show's biggest babyface.

As Ramon entered the ring to cheers, he was even greeted with a small (but definitely audible) 'Razor' chant from the fans. This must have concerned McMahon, and he spent the entire interview attempting to paint his new heel challenger as someone to be hated. It didn't work, and the positive reaction Razor received must have been food for thought to Vince afterwards.

Pause the show at the right moment and you'll even see Vince peering over the shoulder of a smiling Ramon with a confused look on his face. As the fans cheered for a heel the WWF had worked so hard to portray as bad, the boss must have been wondering about a Razor face run already.
