Raw Shelby Kane Bryanmissed
WWE

Dr. Shelby is an enjoyable peripheral character who made a welcome return to WWE television last night, mediating the Bayley/Sasha Banks counselling session. He was every bit as fun as he was back in the Team Hell No days, and WWE dropped a nice Easter egg into the segment, as the good doctor had a photo of Kane and Daniel Bryan hanging from his office wall.

This was a nice touch. It references the duo's recent SmackDown reunion, but more importantly, harks back to Shelby's roots. He was initially brought in to host the warring partners' anger management sessions, and fast became an important supplementary presence in the angle. As such, this was an enjoyable nudge back to 2012.

The segment itself wasn't great. WWE have buried the Bayley vs. Sasha Banks storyline with constant stalling, and it looks like this is set to continue, as the duo work through a lengthy series of goofy counselling segments. Good performers can't always transcend bad writing - this is proof.
