10 Things You Somehow Missed In AEW

4. Chris Jericho Hints At Major Arrival

Back when he was at his peak as 'Le Champion', Chris Jericho performed one of several priceless segments in which he played the jackass.

Revealing that he had one more scheduled match left in 2019, he created a new "list", a "lexicon", from which he read names that he would not be facing. It was an entertaining means of showing his fear at the prospect of wrestling Jon Moxley, whose name was repeated throughout in addition to a comical run-down of long-forgotten wrestlers. This was no accident; he hid a red herring within this affectionate roll-call.

The segment also doubled as a tease; tellingly, Jericho waited for the very first second of the old Jurassic Express theme sting to utter the name "Marty". He acted as though he'd been cut off naturally, but he hadn't.

This was not a reference to Marty Jannetty, but rather Marty Scurll, who was thought to be coming in before ROH offered him an unprecedented deal for control of the book and what Dave Meltzer described as "WWE main roster money".

Mercifully, given the events of 2020, this turned out to be an entitled, almost arrogant - and false - expectation that he'd sign.
