5. When Owen Hart Fell To His Death In 1999 And WWE Continued The Show
This is probably the saddest thing that has ever happened in the wrestling business. When Owen Hart fell to his death in May of 1999 at the Over The Edge PPV, it was an accident that didn't need to happen. He really didn't have to do a stunt as the Blue Blazer that was done as a tongue in cheek move because the Blazer was a joke of a superhero. If he walked to the ring it would have had the same effect, not to mention he'd still be alive today. It happened and it's something that is still tough to think about 15 years later. There were mixed emotions about his accidental death among the wrestling community because there were a group of people that felt like the show should have stopped there. They knew he died, yet they kept the show going. The fans in the building that saw him fall to his death didn't know that he passed away. No announcement was made and it's not like they were texting 15 years ago either. There were also others that felt like the "show must go on" because maybe that's what Owen would have happened. Maybe they just felt that way because that's what they wanted. The fans that were really mad at WWE for continuing the show may have felt like they couldn't watch anymore because they kept going after Owen was killed. As we know, the viewership for WWE in 1999 was very strong for at least a few more years, so it's not like the majority of fans left. Some of them likely did, though.
