What was supposed to be a dream match between two incredibly strong athletes and big stars ended up being one of the biggest disappointments in WrestleMania history. During the build-up to Lesnars match with Lesnar, it was revealed that he wouldnt be returning to WWE afterwards, and that match would be his last. As such, many people assumed that Goldberg would be winning, and thus more people would be favouring him. However, it was soon revealed that Goldberg was also leaving after this match, not interested in continuing with WWE. As a result, the fans booed both men. In terms of a match, it was dreadful, with little action and interest on the parts of either wrestler. In fact, the only person getting anything in terms of cheers was guest referee Stone Cold Steve Austin. That said, out of the two athletes who were leaving, it was Lesnar, not Goldberg, who got pinned. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lBLPFTUaOi8 While fans really didnt care about the result of the match for the most part, it was still surprising to see the WWE star lose to the guy whose success was mainly in WCW. Even though both guys were on their way out of WWE, it wouldve still made more sense for the guy that was a 100% WWE creation to defeat the WCW guy.
