At Vengeance, Brock Lesnar defended his WWE Championship against both Kurt Angle and the Big Show, two men with whom Lesnar already had storied rivalries. Brock was still touted as the Next Big Thing, and even though he faced formidable opponents in both the technically-sound Angle and the gargantuan Big Show, it was still expected that Lesnar would beat both of them and walk out of Denver as the WWE Champion. However, not even performing both an F-5 and a Powerbomb onto the Big Show could secure a victory for Lesnar. In true Triple Threat fashion, Lesnar, Angle and Big Show decimated one another, using weapons against each other, and throwing each other onto announcers tables. But in the end, Angle connected with the Angle Slam, first on Show and then on Lesnar, to secure a pin and reclaim the WWE Championship. It was an absolutely incredible match that highlighted just how good these men were at the time. Even Big Show, whose athleticism has long been criticized, did a great job in this match. But sadly for all those Lesnar fans out there (and there were many of them at the time, even if he was a heel), Lesnar was the one who got his shoulders pinned to the mat, and in a surprising turn of events, ending his second reign as WWE Champion.
