Brock Lesnar was still as popular as ever going into No Way Out, and his opponent for the evening was Eddie Guerrero, whose popularity was rising quickly at the time. While some fans knew that Lesnars match with Goldberg couldnt possibly be a title match, and thus Lesnar would be losing his battle with Eddie, it was still genuinely shocking to see Eddie defeat the Beast Brock Lesnar cleanly in the middle of the ring. While some might argue that Goldbergs interference in the match makes it an unclean finish, Eddie didnt immediately defeat Lesnar after Goldbergs involvement. Lesnar recovered, and still managed to hoist Guerrero onto his shoulder for an attempted F-5. It was Eddie and Eddie alone that reversed that F-5 into a DDT and connected with a Frog Splash to defeat Lesnar. Eddies surprise win over Lesnar was one of the most emotionally-satisfying moments of that period. Eddie had long toiled and struggled throughout his wrestling career to make it to the top, and now he was WWE Champion. While some people mightve been expecting Guerrero to win, it was still surprising to see this powerhouse of an athlete lose to a much smaller wrestler like Eddie.
