10 Times Brock Lesnar Was Just Awesome

7. A Caged Beast Emerges

Now for one of the lesser spoken about moments from Lesnar's career, which is a shame as it's a tremendous heel turn.

By July 2003, Lesnar was flagging as a babyface. During his long term rivalry and friendship with Kurt Angle, the two men had traded the title a few times. When Vince McMahon targeted one-legged wrestler, Zach Gowen, Lesnar intervened leading to a bizarre cage match between Lesnar and Vince, himself. Angle, the then WWE Champion, was placed as guest referee.

After a backstage incident meant Lesnar wasn't 100%, the Beast hoisted Vince up for an F5 but then collapsed to the mat, unconscious. Concerned, Angle refused to let Vince win and put the CEO in an ankle lock for his trouble.

Cue the kip-up and the exceptional heel turn and Brock Lesnar unleashed a vicious beating upon Angle, hurling him continuously into the unforgiving steel, as his frustrations over losing the title to Angle came to a sickening crescendo.

Angle and Lesnar's rivalry is legendary and this moment is one of the highlights of it, yet is often overlooked. Heel Brock is the best Brock, and within a few weeks, he beat the snot out of Gowen in front of his own mother.

Nice.
